About Rosemary Humphries
Hi – I’m Rosemary Humphries, Artist and tutor. Home is the beautiful borders of Suffolk and Norfolk.
My interest is light, colour and shape. I paint a very wide variety of subjects, from figurative, landscape through to abstraction.
However they are the same in that:
They make me buzz for some reason. I have to have some sort of emotional response to my subject. If something makes an artist buzz, the viewer of the work will see that also and it will make a good painting.
I can explore the shapes and have fun with composition.
Colour is employed strictly, carefully, then used with freedom to convey the idea and emotion in the subject.
I live in Diss, from where I easily explore the many local
heaths, including Wortham Ling, Redgrave and Lopham Fen
and Knettishall Country Park. The Little Ouse Walks are
beautiful and part of the Little Ouse Headwaters Project.
Have a look at their website to see what they do. The
Organised walks and working parties are recommended.
There is a lot of work going on to ensure the welfare
of these precious open areas and to open and link new
areas. I aim to do work on the changing seasons.
