We have been in north Suffolk for just over 2 years now and
the change as been very refreshing. Being surrounded by open
countryside and wide skies is a continual joy. The secret
roads in the Waveney valley will be a source of inspiration
– it is like stepping out of our busy world.
I have been busy!
I am involved in School Art Projects, including an Art Week,
where a school gives the entire time over to various projects.
This is inspirational work to be involved in. I feel it is
vital to pass skills forward.
Teaching - Private/group lessons at home are also proving
enjoyable and successful. Private lessons are run at home
for individuals or small groups. I will also travel for small
or large groups.

New Work Planned
Two projects are imminent involving primary schools.
An Art Week will look at colour and pattern using work based
on Klimt patterns, drawing skills, mosaic making, and ink/wax/charcoal.
I always use the children’s ideas, pulling them together
and showing them how to develop them. I never cease to admire
what they come up with.
I intend to have fun with the Framlingham Art Society, looking
at mixed media. I look forward to showing how experiencing
the freedom given by moving outside single media adds both
excitement and fun.
I enjoy teaching my regular students, giving foundations for
development of their own style and skills.
My work looks to capturing quirky moments as well as drama
in landscape. Now my Orwell Park project work is complete,
I am starting on work from the summer in the countryside around
us. Our village fete promises to be a good source!
See 'Where to see Work'
section for more details.
Recent Events
I had a work accepted for the Eastern Open Art Show at Kings
Lynn – see ‘The Judges’ in ‘New
Work’.
I spent another very successful week as Artist in Residence
at Orwell Park School in March 2008. I taught classes ranging
in age from 6 to 13. A focus was made on the work of John
Piper. Twigs were used for drawing with ink, and wax used
for texture. Bold watercolour washes completed the students’
experiencing a sense of freedom and fun in their work. The
work produced by the pupils was impressive.
The show of my and the pupils’ will run in the Alston
Room at Orwell Park School from 7 – 14 June, Private
View Saturday 7 June, 5 – 8pm. Please contact me if
you would like to come! Some Images of the show can also be
seen at ‘New Work’.
I have done talks, including the Bury Art Society, and will
be doing a workshop at Framlingham.
Teaching
I teach individuals, small or large
groups. All ages/abilities. An example of watercolour tuition
is shown, but other topics are covered. Please phone 01502
575602 or 07742522675 for more details. My methods
give a fun and simple way of looking at colour, drawing and
various techniques. My aim is to show how to enhance and develop
work without losing individuality. All ages - groups or individuals.
